We are Millwrights Local Union 2736. Now in our 65th year, our rich history and skilled members, are vital in maintenance work for various industries in British Columbia. Our clients and projects reach far and wide within the province, representing approximately 400+ Red Seal millwrights, apprentices, and welders. As the single-biggest employer of apprentices in the province, we pride ourselves in inclusiveness and industry-leading training programs, that prepare our valued members to take on some of the most excitingly unique and challenging jobs all over the country. Today, we perform work in major industries that include hydro, nuclear, pulp and paper, solar power, space exploration, mining, and other industries.

About the Opportunity

Currently, Millwrights 2736 is seeking for multiple Millwrights in both Journeyperson and Apprentice levels, to join our team in Delta, BC.

As a highly skilled Millwright, you will be proficient in a wide range of duties involving the installation, repair, troubleshoot, and maintenance of machinery and related devices and systems.

With valuable training and different levels of experience, our Millwrights' varying tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment
  • Installing, aligning, dismantling and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Operating various machinery, such as hoisting and lifting devices, as needed
  • Operating lathes or grinders to build parts for maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings
  • For Journeyperson Millwrights: coaching and mentoring Apprentices on valuable skills and daily tasks

About You

To qualify for the Journeyperson-level Millwright position, you will need a Red Seal certification, as well as a valid Driver's License.

To qualify as an Apprentice, you must have at least  a 2nd year level in a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic foundation program at one of the accredited colleges in BC.

About the Benefits

Per collective agreement, hourly wage including vacation, holiday pay, and employer contributions for Journeyperson Millwrights is $62.74.

Per collective agreement, hourly wage including vacation, holiday pay, and employer contributions for qualified 2nd year Apprentices is $45.12, with an increase to $47.64 after 6 months served and completed.

Millwrights L.U. 2736 History

Millwrights Local Union 2736 was chartered in 1956 and on May 17, 2024 we will celebrate our 68th Anniversary. We currently represent approximately 550+ Red Seal Millwrights, and Apprentices with over 75 contractors throughout the province of British Columbia and Canada. We also have affiliated Millwright Locals throughout Canada that we have supplied manpower to and also drawn upon their membership resources when needed during peak periods of employment.
