We are Millwrights Local Union 2736. Celebrating our 67th year in 2023, our rich history and skilled members are vital in construction and maintenance work for various industries in British Columbia. Our clients and projects reach far and wide across the province, representing approximately 550+ Red Seal millwrights and apprentices. As the single-biggest employer of apprentices in the province, we pride ourselves on inclusiveness and industry-leading training programs that prepare our valued members to take on some of the most excitingly unique and challenging jobs all over the country. About the Opportunity

Millwrights 2736 is seeking multiple Apprentice Millwrights to join our team for various projects province-wide in B.C. You will also get access to our Union Hall and Training Centre located in Delta, BC, as well as access to the International Training Center (ITC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Courses, flights, accommodations, transfers, and meals are all paid for by Millwrights Union Local 2736 when accessing the ITC.  When on-site or local training is not possible, Living Out Allowance (LOA) is offered to members outside the Lower Mainland when accessing training at the Union Hall in Delta.

As a skilled Apprentice, you will assist in a wide range of duties involving the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of machinery and related devices and systems.

With valuable training and different levels of experience, our Millwrights' varying tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment
  • Installing, aligning, dismantling and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Operating various machinery including forklifts, telehandlers, and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms as needed
  • Fabricating of parts for maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings
  • Assisting the Journeyperson team members in daily tasks

About You

To qualify, you must have completed at least a Millwright Foundations Course or Millwright Level 1 Apprenticeship Upgrading at one of the accredited colleges in BC.

About the Benefits

As per our collective agreement, apprentices are paid at a percentage of the $48.65 Journeyperson rate based on level of schooling as well as hours completed, starting at 65% for a 2nd year Apprentice (having completed Foundations Program) and increasing incrementally by 5%. In addition, 12% holiday pay is paid out on every cheque, Pension is $6.75 per hour earned, and Health and Welfare is $2.735.

Millwrights L.U. 2736 History

Millwrights Local Union 2736 was chartered in 1956 and on May 17, 2024 we will celebrate our 68th Anniversary. We currently represent approximately 550+ Red Seal Millwrights, and Apprentices with over 75 contractors throughout the province of British Columbia and Canada. We also have affiliated Millwright Locals throughout Canada that we have supplied manpower to and also drawn upon their membership resources when needed during peak periods of employment.
